AI Visibility Tools Compared: Trackers, Content Tools, Agencies and Full-Loop Software
There are four kinds of AI visibility product. Trackers (Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Profound, and add-ons from Semrush and Ahrefs) report who AI recommends. Content tools (Surfer, Frase) help write and optimize pages. Agencies do the work for you. Full-loop software, such as Citepoint, finds the questions, publishes the pages, earns mentions and tracks the result. Pick by who will do the work. Prices below are as shown on each vendor's site in October 2026, and we make Citepoint.
Key takeaways
- The categories differ in who does the work, not in what they measure. Most products track the same engines.
- As of October 2026, entry prices run from $29 a month (Otterly.AI Lite) to $199 a month (Ahrefs Brand Radar's AI index), Profound shows brands only a free trial and custom Enterprise pricing, with an Agency Growth plan at $99 a month plus add-ons.
- Published agency programs run from about $775 to $10,000 a month at The HOTH, and start at $3,000 at WebFX and $10,000 at uSERP, so software is a fraction of the cost if you have people to do the work.
- Citepoint is a better fit for small teams that need pages and mentions produced, and a worse fit when you need Copilot, Grok or DeepSeek coverage, enterprise security reviews or very large prompt sets.
What are the four categories?
| Category | Examples | What it does | Who does the work |
|---|---|---|---|
| Trackers | Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Profound, Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit, Ahrefs Brand Radar | Ask AI engines your questions and report mentions, citations and share of voice | You |
| Content tools | Surfer, Frase | Help write, score and refresh pages, some with AI tracking | You, with software help |
| Agencies | The HOTH, WebFX, Siege Media, iPullRank | Strategy, content, digital PR and reporting | The agency |
| Full-loop software | Citepoint | Finds the questions, writes and publishes pages, earns mentions and tracks results | The software, with your approval |
The lines blur. Profound now describes itself as an AI marketing platform with agents that draft content, and Frase's agent can publish on its own. That is the point of the table: ask what each product does for you after it shows the problem.
How do the trackers compare?
Prices below are as shown on each vendor's pricing page on October 3, 2026. Plans change, so check before you buy.
| Tool | Entry price | Engines at entry | What the entry plan includes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Otterly.AI | Lite $29 a month, or $25 billed annually | ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, Perplexity and Copilot. Claude, AI Mode and Gemini are paid add-ons | 15 prompts, daily tracking, unlimited team members |
| Peec AI | Starter $95 a month, or $80 billed annually | Three models of your choice from ChatGPT, AI Mode, AI Overviews, Copilot, Gemini and Naver AI | 50 prompts, daily tracking, unlimited users, 1 project |
| Semrush AI Visibility Toolkit | $99 a month per domain, billed annually | ChatGPT, Google AI, Gemini and Perplexity | 25 tracked prompts, 1 domain, site audit for AI readiness |
| Ahrefs Brand Radar | From $199 a month for one platform's AI index, or $699 for all models, with custom prompt packages from $50 a month | AI Overviews, AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Copilot, plus Claude for custom prompts | A database of pre-collected prompts to research any brand, plus 5 to 20 tracked prompts in paid Ahrefs plans |
| Profound | Brands: free trial, then custom Enterprise pricing. Agencies: Agency Growth at $99 a month plus $399 a month per client workspace | Trial: ChatGPT, Gemini, AI Overviews. Enterprise: up to 9 answer engines | Trial: 50 prompts run daily for 7 days. Enterprise: custom prompts, API, SSO and SOC 2 compliance |
Where each is a better fit:
- Otterly.AI is the cheapest way to start tracking, and its Standard plan adds API access, MCP access and a Looker Studio connector.
- Peec AI is built around analytics for marketing teams, with a dedicated agency pricing page and an Enterprise tier covering up to 13 models.
- Semrush and Ahrefs fit teams that already live in those suites, and Ahrefs' Brand Radar lets you research any brand across hundreds of millions of pre-collected prompts without setup.
- Profound fits larger organizations that need many engines, an API, SSO and SOC 2, and are ready to talk to sales.
What do content tools add?
Surfer sells AI tracking and writing tools together. As of October 2026 its AI Search Analytics plan tracks 50 prompts daily at $95 a month, or $82 billed yearly, and its Standard plan, at $119 a month or $99 billed yearly, creates or optimizes 360 documents a month and tracks 25 prompts weekly. Frase starts at $49 a month month-to-month, or $39 billed yearly, with 10 articles a month, SEO and GEO scores and AI visibility tracking, and its agent can publish on its own if you let it. Frase also says that its AI visibility monitoring "does not auto-fix" and that rankings and AI citations "build over the weeks after you publish."
These fit a team with a writer and an SEO workflow that wants scores and tracking in one place.
What do agencies add?
Agencies bring strategy, relationships and accountability that software can't, especially for digital PR. Published prices as of October 2026: The HOTH lists AI Discover programs at $1,500, $2,500, $5,000 and $10,000 a month on its AI Discover page, though its AI visibility page says they start at $775 a month. WebFX starts at $3,000 a month on a six-month commitment, Discovered Labs lists €6,995 and €10,995 a month on a six-month commitment (€7,995 and €12,995 month to month), and uSERP's programs start at $10,000 a month. Some agencies run their own trackers, such as WebFX's OmniSEO and The HOTH's Atlas, and Siege Media says its tool recommendation depends on the client and budget. See how much GEO costs.
Where does full-loop software fit?
Citepoint finds the buyer questions where ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode recommend a competitor. It writes pages that answer them, publishes them on your own domain, drafts the listings and pitches that earn mentions on the sites AI cites, and tracks visibility. Plans as of October 2026:
| Plan | Price | Brands | Tracked questions | Pages a month |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Footnote | $99 a month | 1 | 50 | 30 |
| Citation | $199 a month | 2 | 150 | 60 |
| Authority | $299 a month | 5 | 300 | 100 |
| Agency | $649 a month, billed monthly | 25 | 600 | 250 |
Yearly billing on the first three plans is two months free. Every plan includes six engines, unlimited seats, the API and an MCP server. There is no free trial, but the first payment is refundable for 7 days, and the free scan shows who AI recommends for three of your questions.
Citepoint's documented limits are worth weighing:
- It tracks six engines. It doesn't track Grok, Copilot or open-source models, and Claude and Perplexity are checked weekly while the other four are checked daily.
- Its largest plan tracks 600 questions across 25 brands. Otterly.AI's Enterprise tier, for comparison, starts from 1,000 prompts.
- Pages are written by software from your site and notes. You can approve each page before it ships, but you still read and own what is published.
How should you choose?
| If you... | Consider |
|---|---|
| Have writers and SEOs and need numbers | A tracker, starting with Otterly.AI or Peec AI, or the Semrush or Ahrefs add-on if you already pay for the suite |
| Need many engines and SSO | Profound's or Peec AI's Enterprise tier (Profound lists SOC 2) |
| Want scoring and tracking inside a content workflow | Surfer or Frase |
| Have no one to write pages or earn mentions, and a small budget | Citepoint or a similar full-loop product |
| Need relationship-led PR or a team to run the program | An agency, possibly with a tracker alongside |
| Run an agency | Peec AI, Otterly.AI, Profound or Citepoint, each of which has an agency offer |
What should you check in a trial?
- Where answers come from. Consumer apps are what buyers see, while an API without web search can lag. Citepoint's methodology says how it collects each engine.
- How the numbers are defined. Share of voice and visibility mean different things in different tools. See AI share of voice.
- How many answers back each number. Answers vary from run to run, so see why AI answers change.
- Your market. Check countries and languages.
- Exports and API, if you report to clients.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best AI visibility tool?
It depends on who will do the work. If you have a team that writes and does PR, a tracker such as Peec AI or Otterly.AI is enough. If you have no one to produce pages and mentions, look at full-loop software or an agency. Test with your own questions before you commit.
Do I need a tracker if my SEO suite has AI features?
Maybe not. Semrush and Ahrefs both include AI tracking, from $99 a month per domain billed annually for Semrush's toolkit, and from $199 a month for Ahrefs Brand Radar's AI index. Compare prompt limits and engines against a dedicated tracker.
Are the prices on this page current?
They are what each vendor's own site showed on October 3, 2026. AI visibility pricing changes often, and some vendors, such as Profound, publish no paid prices for brands. Confirm on the vendor's site.
Does any tool guarantee I'll be recommended?
No. Frase's own pricing page says no tool ranks you inside a trial, and Citepoint's FAQ says anyone who promises a timeline is guessing. Tools show the problem and help you fix it, and engines decide what to recommend.
Why does Citepoint's list include its own product?
Because it is relevant, and because we'd rather say where it fits and where it doesn't than leave it out. Every other fact here comes from the vendor's own site, dated October 2026.
