Guide

How it works.

How to use this estimator

Enter the number of monthly visits your site gets from AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Google AI Overviews. Your analytics tool may list these as referrals from chatgpt.com, gemini.google.com or similar sources. Then enter the share of those visits that become a lead, the share of leads that become customers, and your average deal size. The result is the monthly pipeline value that AI traffic should create under those assumptions.

The formula in plain words

First, multiply AI visits by your conversion rate to get qualified leads. Next, multiply leads by your close rate to get expected new customers. Last, multiply new customers by average deal size to get monthly pipeline value. Annual pipeline is the monthly figure times 12, which assumes the same numbers hold all year.

Worked example

Say a B2B software team gets 1,200 visits a month from AI assistants. A 3% conversion rate gives 36 leads. A 20% close rate turns those into 7.2 expected customers. At an average deal size of $6,000, that is $43,200 in monthly pipeline, or about $518,400 over a year. Fractional customers are normal in an estimate, since results average out across months.

Now compare a second scenario. A team like Tallybook might grow AI visits from 1,200 to 2,000 by publishing pages that answer buyer questions where assistants currently name competitors. At the same rates, pipeline rises to $72,000 a month. The estimator shows what each extra visit is worth, so you can judge whether a content investment is likely to pay off.

What to watch

Conversion rate and close rate are the two numbers most teams guess. Use your own CRM history wherever you have it. Deal size should be the average first-year contract value, not list price. Treat the output as a planning figure rather than a forecast.

When the featured product helps

Citepoint finds buyer questions where AI assistants name competitors, publishes researched pages on your own domain to earn those recommendations, and tracks AI-referred visits without cookies or scripts. That gives you the visit number this calculator needs, along with a way to raise it. Pages start on a Citepoint-hosted address before moving to your domain, and only your website is required to get started.

Questions

Good to know.

What counts as AI-referred traffic?

Visits where the referrer or source shows an AI assistant or AI search product, such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Google AI Overviews. Check your analytics for referral sources and filter them into one segment before entering the number.

Why does the result show decimal customers?

The estimate works on averages. A figure of 7.2 customers means you would expect around seven customers in a typical month, with variation from month to month.

Should I use list price for deal size?

No. Use the average first-year contract value you actually sign, after discounts, so the pipeline figure matches what your sales team closes.

Is this a forecast?

No. It is a planning estimate that shows how changes in traffic, conversion, close rate and deal size affect pipeline. Replace the defaults with your own numbers for a more useful result.
